Fun with Frames

Hi everyone. Today I have a couple of fun projects to share with you using Acrylic Craft Frames from Deflecto Craft Solutions. You will now be able to order these products from Hot Off The Press!

I received some beautiful papers from HOTP to use and I had such a hard time choosing from them that I used a little bit from all three packages; Artful Watercolor, Sweet Life, and On Butterfly Wings.

For my first frame I used the 5x7 Beveled Edge Frame and decorated inside and on top of the frame. This frame can be presented either portrait or landscape to fit your needs.

I loved the flowers from the Artful Watercolor pack, so I fussy cut several, shaped and layered them, added some Stickles and adhered to the front of my frame. I also punched some tiny butterflies using a very old punch I have, coated them with Glossy Accents and added to the flowers when dry.

To add a little interest to the upper corner I pulled out a little bling from Melissa Frances and some coordinating ribbon.

For the second frame I wanted something Back To School themed and I used
I mixed several of the papers from the Sweet Life pack, adding some faux stitching with a black pen.

The Hall Pass in the Flexible Pouch can be removed from the frame when needed - cool, huh? I added a little note to let students know the pass was checked out. The amazingly cute school themed ribbon is from Doodlebug- and I have been hoarding saving it for years because I knew that someday I would need it for something!

Hot Off The Press has just released their new catalog so be sure to check it out.  Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you are having drier weather where you are than we are here- I think we are on day 87 of rain :o(

Handmade Flowers - First Monday Hop with Designer Crafts Connection

Howdy everyone! It is the first Monday of the month and this month our theme at Designer Crafts Connection is Handmade Flowers.
In order see all the cool graphics, check out the logo in my side bar ------->
Use the arrows on the bottom to navigate through the ring.

I love making flower embellishments for my projects.  There are so many ways to create beautiful flowers from things you already have in your stash! This is a class I will be teaching in May at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie.  We will be learning how to make 10 different flowers.

This flower is one of my favorites. It is made using Italian Crepe Paper and the XXL Glue Dots®.

This one is made from vintage crepe paper I found a few years ago. The glittered edge is Bo Bunny Glitter Paste.

I love being able to customize the flower to my project, adding different things for the centers, and using paints and mists to color them.

A vintage box flower that I learned a long time ago in a quilting class.

This one is made using plain cardstock and paper punches. I used stickles to add the sparkle to the edges.

I have several how to's on flower making in my Tutorials page - be sure to check them out. Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week!

Party Banner- DCC Blog Hop

Hi everyone, are you recovered from the holiday?
I painted all weekend getting ready for my DD2s baby shower that is in a couple of weeks.

I am all about making party decor right now and so today I have a
super fun and cute banner to share with you.

This banner came together really quickly, until I got to the ribbon tying part anyway!
I used my cameo to cut out the base shapes using Kraft CS, and the letters too.

After I had the base shape cut out, I glued the pieces onto vintage music sheets and cut out,
this gave the banner a heavier bottom layer than just the sheet music alone would have.

I layered on the pink and white mats, using my pinking shears on the pink layer.
I added the letters on top and drew a little squiggly line around the white piece with my Stickles.

I always outline alpha pieces when I add them to a project to give it more depth.
I just use whatever black marker is handy.

So everyone knows that I have some issues with ribbon- I love ribbon and a banner is the
perfect way to use a LOT OF RIBBON. I just cut up whatever strikes my fancy, put a bunch of pieces into a bundle and tie them up. Add a flower in the center and you are good!!

Of course, I had to add just a few flowers on the end pieces, just because I love paper flowers!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Have a wonderful week!
May the Flamingos be with you.
