Howdy everyone in blog land!
It is day #13 of The Caribbean Crawl 2014
and today we are in Antigua. We have hired a private yacht to
tour us around to a few islands so we are with a very small party the
next few days.
Today is the very first in a new series I will be doing for Frosted Designs
Have you ever seen a layout and went,,
"I wonder how they made that?"
The Deconstructed Layout will feature a tutorial on one element of a layout,
Here is the first layout with tutorial,,
Now,, who has ever seen Anita make a layout with a plain sheet of white cardstock as the base???
Anybody??? Nope- I don't think I have ever done it before.
The little bit of pattern paper I used is from the Shades of Spring Kit
flowers are Prima, Stamps are Wendi Vecchi, and chipboard is Dusty Attic.
To make the awesome bricks below my photo, I started with Molding Paste and a stencil.
When that was dry, I inked the paste straight from the ink pads using
the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink from the Shades of Spring Kit.
Next I sprinkled dry powder from Lindy's Stamp Gang- Industrial Chic Magicals Set
right on top using a dry paintbrush. VERY LITTLE powder is needed. I then spritzed with
water to get the color to show up. Super cool- huh?
Then I cut the individual bricks out and glued them down. I used a brush marker to outline them.
How did I get them so straight? Well,,,, I am so glad you asked.
I almost never use washi tape on layouts- but I use it ALL THE TIME
for holding things in place, marking my place, and for marking locations on layouts.
If you look at this photo, then the top photo- you can see how much difference the
black outline on the bricks helps- it really makes them pop!
Such a fun layout - love the flower embellishments, but your brickwork steals the show!
ReplyDeleteFantastic layout, Anita! Love your flowers, pretty swirls, blue butterflies and your stamped background. Your bricks are most awesome! Thank you for sharing how you made them.
