Home Banner with Ann Butler Designs

Hi everyone and welcome to the Ann Butler Designs / ClearSnap sponsored hop with Designer Crafts Connection. I was so happy when I opened my package from Ann with the new stamps and inks made by ClearSnap in them, they are amazing!

Here is a look at my project

I stamped on several fabrics before I settled on the one I liked the best- I liked them all, but I liked canvas the best! I used the new Desert Sand ink, Picnic 1 and Picnic 2 background stamps for this door hanging. I stamped Picnic 1 in the corners, and masked Picnic 2 to stamp just the narrow border around the center. The chipboard is inked in the new Blueberry ink- love this color! and heat embossed with ultra thick clear embossing powder. I finished it off with some ric-rac from Decorative Trimmings and a couple of paper flowers. I added a loose zig zag stitch around the edge to help stop the fraying.

Be sure to check out Ann Butler Designs to see all the amazing goodness she has going on! I have a mini quilt in the works with these stamps too, they are just so cute! Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Sensory Play Quilt

I love to sew, but I don't find time to do it often enough. A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to receive some fabulous trims from Decorative Trimmings and I selected some with making a quilt for the Princess in mind. I knew I wanted to add  lots of  trim to the quilt top so it would have lots of texture for her to play with.

Here is the Princess in action on her quilt- I never did get a really good shot of her on it, she moves so fast there days!

I used a selection of ric rak and lace from Decorative trimmings.

My fabric is a mix of stuff from my stash and I used Poly-fil Cotton Classic Batting from Fairfield World - this is one of my favorites!

I started by cutting my fabrics in to strips of varying widths and lying them out in the pattern I liked. Really, it was truly random.

Once I sewed all the strips together, I added the trim along the seams. Next up I added the Poly-fil and backing, quilted the pieces together, and trimmed the edges even.

To add the large ric rak into the front binding, I trimmed it down and tucked it into the binding as I sewed. I over lapped the ends to seal.

Here's another look at the Princess playing on her quilt. She loves the ribbons sewn on the top- she is spending lots of time pulling on them and chewing on them!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Fun Tote Bag with Tulip Fabric Markers

I love to get surprise boxes in the mail. I really love to get boxes with brand spankin' new art products I have never used before. There is nothing like taking those pens out for the first time and writing with every single color to see what they look like!

A couple of weeks ago the amazingly creative and generous Laura Kelly Walters sent out some mystery boxes filled with fun stuff. My FAVORITE was the Tulip Fabric Markers.  Fabric + Markers makes one happy crafter!

These things are pretty cool y'all. I couldn't decide what to create, I had so many ideas running through my mind. As I was looking at the fun stuff Laura sent, inspiration struck. She had also included a very cute little fabric bag - that she sewed herself no less- and I decided that would be a little tote bag for the Princess.

First I added a narrow hem to the top of the bag. I cut the butterflies using some lightweight cotton, iron on interfacing, and my Cameo. It was super easy to iron the butterflies on the bag, then the fun began! I outlined each butterfly using the Tulip Fabric Markers and added lots of doodles to the bag. The fine tips on the markers were perfect for adding these small details to my bag!

Laura also sent some super cute buttons- and we all know I LOVE buttons! I added a few of those to the front of the bag as well. To finish it off I added some ric-rac around the top edge and at the bottom as well, both from Decorative Trimmings.

Hop over to Laura's website to check out all her craftiness and be sure to pick up some of these Tulip Fabric Markers for yourself. And don't forget to enter for the prize below.
