Re puposing craft supplies to make Mixed Media Cards

Mixed Media Cards
Do you re purpose your supplies for other things? I do! I wanted to create a project using supplies that I already on hand - Mixed Media Cards popped into my brain and there it stayed. I am not a huge mixed media crafter, but I do like to play around with it from time to time.  Almost all of the supplies are ones that I use on my scrapbook pages!

Each card is 10" tall by 4" wide and they are created using the Bo Bunny Genevieve paper line. I used stamps and stencils from Wendy Vecchi, crackle medium, dies, Gelatos, matboard, inks, sprays, and of course Stickles. Because no project is ever complete without Stickles!

Mixed Media Cards Gold Flowers

For this card I stamped my sentiment (from Wendy Vecchi) onto patterned paper and then used a Little B punch on it. For the flowers I used a new product I saw at CHA and was WOWED by it!!

Mixed Media Cards Nuvo
This product comes in Gold, Silver, and Copper and is amazingly easy to use. You apply Zig glue to your embellishment and let it air dry, then rub the Gilding Flakes onto the glue. BAM! You now have sparkle galore. I also used, Wendy Vecchi Texture paste, Petaloo flowers, StazOn ink, and Stickles
Mixed Media Cards Yellow Flowers

For this card I made the flowers by hand using a Sizzix die and inked them with VersaMagic Dew Drop ink. Notice the Maya Road centers - they are amazing! (you have to sing that last part). The background is made using Wendy Vecchi stamps and stencil. This time I inked directly onto the card through the stencil using VersaMagic Dew Drop in Hint of Pesto. Because this ink is opaque it will cover the pattern on the paper! I also used Sizzix Matboard to cut the silver swirl, DecoArt Crackle Paint and Metallic Lustere in Silver on the matboard, Dylusions spray ink in Lemon for the ribbon, Signo white pen to add accents
Mixed Media Cards Coral Flower

For the last card I made another flower using cardstock and punches, highlighting the edges with Copper Stickles. The small flowers tucked behind are from Petaloo.

Mixed Media Cards Stenciled LEaves
These leaves are made using the same stencil I used on card two, this time I used texture paste through the stencil and let it dry. I then colored it with Gelatos (Pistachio). I also used Wendy Vecchi stamps, Distress Stain, the butterfly is a die from Eileen Hull, chipboard from Blue Fern Studios
How can you repurpose supplies you already have to create something new? I would love to see - please leave me a link in the comments!

Botanical Mini Album

I taught this fun little mini album recently at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. I fell in love with the Kaisercraft papers as soon as they came into the store although they are not my normal go to colors.

As a general rule I RUN from purple - seriously. But these papers were so beautiful I just couldn't resist them!!  I used a mix of the 12x12 papers and the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and of course I added in lots of extra stuff to fill out my album. For the front cover I used a chipboard left over from another album, a Tim Holtz die to cut some Little B Chipboard which I embossed with my Eileen Hull folder from Sizzix. Lace is from Maya Road and flowers are from Petaloo. And of course, all my inks are VersaMagic DewDrops from Tsukineko - because I love them so much!!

On the left page I used a coin envelope to hide a tag for journaling. On the right side I used a stamp from Wendy Vecchi and the cute little clay pot die is from Eileen Hull.

One of my favorite ways to add an extra page in is to line a a few tags and use washi tape to hold them together. By the time you add papers to the front and back it is very sturdy!

We all know I love to add pockets, flaps, and lots of interactive pieces to my albums. I added a fabulous punched flap to the Graphic 45 Lg tag. Adding Glossy Accents to the punched portion really adds strength to it.

How awesome are these colors against the black here!

The page on the right is a 5 x 7 kraft envelope - perfect for tucking memories into the top.

I used another Wendy Vecchi stamp for the tag on the left. The back of the album is a from Heart Of Texas Studios.  I used my Cinch Binding tool from We R Memory Keepers to pull it all together and added lots of ribbon.

There is ONE kit left for the album. If you are interested in it- please contact the store directly at 972 923 3151.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week!

Fun Desk Spruce up with Deflecto Crafts

As you know the princess is almost a year old now (hard to believe!). Her mama went back to work a couple of months ago and we have been working on sprucing up her new office. Deflecto Crafts has some awesome stuff to help out with this project and this month I was lucky enough to receive the Pencil Cup with Photo Frames to work with.

Here is what I did with it.
I painted random, left over, chipboard letters gold and glued them around one of the frames. To the other side I added an embellished frame. I layered flower die cut from a MD Hobby and Craft metal sheet and some Wendy Vecchi Art Parts.  I added some cute flowers to plain pencils and added them to the cup. Easy peasy and quick. This will look super cute and DD1's desk!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the Deflecto Facebook and Pinterest Page for more great ideas and sneak peeks of brand new products!

Great Dad layout with Echo Park Papers

Good morning everyone! It is National Craft Month and there are so many thing going on to celebrate!  Today I have a new layout for The Crafty Scrapper using the brand new Echo Park line - Jack and Jill. This line is SOOO cute y'all!

I don't have very many chances to use boy themed papers, so I was happy to be able to put these to use. Of course, there are not that many pics of the hubs either, so that is a challenge too!

I layered several of the die cut stickers around the page, using foam tape under some of them for dimension. Of course, journaling in my own handwriting is a must for my pages.

For my title I used a chippie from Want2Scrap and white embossing powder.

Don't you just love Wendy Vecchi's stamps? The background stamps are amazing on page layouts too- don't limit them to tags and cards!

The entire Jack and Jill line is available at The Crafty Scrapper, so be sure to stop by and grab some while they last!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. What are your plans for National Craft Month?   Do you have lots of fun things planned?

CHA Recap Part 1

Hi everyone, I had lots of fun and saw so many amazing things at the CHA (Craft Hobby Association) Convention in Anaheim last week. It is so exciting to be able to go and see the new products each year. Here are some of the photos I took while walking the show floor- these products are will be shipping soon! We ordered lots of them for The Crafty Scrapper so keep your eye out for all the goodness to come.

Of course, my very first stop on the show floor was BAZZILL - because you know I love that paper!

Pink Paislee, Heidi Swapp, and Bazzill had a Make N Take going on the first morning of the show, and I was lucky enough to get in on it! I have a very cute canvas album to finish up- you can see it in the photo to the left here; the one with the silver star on the cover. And the star is all in sequins, which makes it even better!

Next up was the Faber-Castell® Design. Memory. Craft. Booth- they had some fabulous Mixed Media products to release this year and I can't wait to get my hands on them!

We R Memory Keepers has some really cute new albums - and you know I love their albums! And the new FUSE tool was one of the hits of the show. I can't wait until these ship so I can play with it! We will be having Demos at the store, so stay tuned.

Kaisercraft always has beautiful papers and embellishments and this year was no exception.

I was lucky enough to be able to take a mini-class at Bo Bunny to play with some of their new products and I absolutely love the new Glitter Pastes! I have a couple that were released last year, but I am pretty sure I am going to need all of them!  They are also releasing some really pretty laser cut chipboard pieces that you will be seeing in my upcoming classes.

I don't know why I don't have more photos of the Authentique booth- because they really are on of my favorite paper companies! Somehow I came home with one photo of this really happy paper line.  I will be featuring this in an upcoming class for a home decor project.

Ruby Rock It had some really cute items for cardmakers.

Wendy Vecchi had some fabulous stamps this time around, plus beautiful new colors of ink and embossing powders!

OK- for all the Disney scrapbookers out there- this is the best embellishment I have sen in a while! They are not shipping yet, but they will be on the way this spring. These are from Jesse James Beads/ Dress It Up Buttons and they are the cutest things EVER.  There are many more varieties and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Of course, stencils are right up there on my list of things to have and there were some great ones released this spring.

I was so excited to see the new ADHESIVE ribbons at May Arts booth. You know you want some- who doesn't? There are lot's of these on the way to the store!

If you are a Filofax fan- these new journals from Pink Paislee are the same size as a Filofax and they are so cute!  They have the most amazing accessories to go with them too - so if you are looking to streamline your everyday memories, this is a great way to go and we will be having some classes using these great books.

So we all know I am a big fan of the Tsukineko brand of inks which is under the Imagine Crafts label and they had some great additions to the line up this year. There are several designed for mixed media art and you are going to love them!

The Delicata ink is a metallic ink that works on dark and light papers and is suitable for very detailed stamps.

The StazOn Studio Glaze creates a Stained Glass effect on glass surfaces WITHOUT BAKING. It is available in all the StazOn colors and it is amazing stuff.

The Amplify! Is very cool for adding dimension to your projects- use directly from the bottle and heat set to puff it up!

Of course, we have all been drooling over WRMK new rolling totes- with an optional cup holder no less! They are available in some yummy colors.

That's it for today- I will have more later in the week, including all the photos from the Ranger booth!  Thanks for stopping by today.
