Western Scrapbook Layout - Stashbuster!

 

Today I want to share a layout using some new skills I am trying to get better at.  Have you noticed how many great digital elements there are these days? I know most of the products are aimed at card makers but I wanted to use some for layouts too. 

 

Are you like me and have a lot of "vintage" supplies? I have so many pretty papers and embellishments I bought so long ago! Since there is always something new and cute coming out, I seemed to have bought faster than I used. Sooo,,, I am trying really hard to use supplies I have on hand. We are going to be moving to our retirement home in the next year or so and I really want to move as little as I can. 

 

I used my Silhouette Cameo 4 to print and cut the sentiment and the shadow layer as well. I will have a video shortly showing the steps needed to achieve this. The top layer is Neena bright white cardstock and the shadow layer is Bazzill. 

 

Y'all I am loving these Nested Stitched Rectangle dies from Maker's Movement. I have been using them all over the place on so many projects. Their are seven dies in the set and they are super cute! I am working on a mini album with them now that I hope to be able to share in the next week or so. 

 

So,, who remembers when Debbie Mumm had paper lines with Creative Imaginations??? Does this officially qualify me as a paper hoarder??? Asking for a friend. 😃Anyway,, the cute background paper is from the Cowgirl Up line from Debbie Mumm. The border stickers are from AdornIt - and they match perfectly. I have been waiting a while to use these!

 

The rub-on here is also from the Debbie Mumm line. Do you use rub-ons? I *love* them. I literally have a whole drawer full of them and I use them as often as I can. Best embellishment ever!  I added some faux stitching to the photo mat using a Stabilo fine line pen. I love the way it looks and sometimes I just don't want to use my sewing machine. This is so much simpler!

A Day at the Zoo Scraobook Layout

I have been getting quite a bit of scrapbooking done the last few weeks- not I just need to take time to photograph and blog them all! This layout shows off the fun we had at the Dallas Zoo last year. They had a dino exhibit that went on for several months and we had the most fun with it! My princess loved the dino's, the activities, and the fun treats!

Pretty much everything on this layout came from Doodlebug Design At The Zoo collection (links at the end of the post). The stamps are from some older sets I have that I can't remember who makes them though. 

How cute is this paper! I love these neutral backgrounds that I can use for layouts and my 4x4 pocket pages. The journal card here was cut from a 12x12 sheet and the zebra border from a 12x12 sticker sheet. I cut a second sheet of paper to make the block that goes across the page.

Bazzill cardstock was used to mat the photos and I used a fine tip black pen to create the faux stitching on the mats. I used my Scotch ATG and Quick Dry Glue to adhere everything down.

Children's Aquarium Scrapbook Layout

My little princess loves the Children's Aquarium. We have a membership so we go quite a bit. This is one of my favorite photos from our visits. She was so excited to see that giant puffer fish!!

I started my layout using some older pattern papers and Rinea Foiled Paper. I used a hexagon punch to punch out several shapes.

I crumpled up the Turquoise/Silver Glossy Foiled Paper and then spread it back out. Using a sanding block I lightly sanded the tops of my hexagons to give them a little texture. I love how they turned out!

I placed the hexagons randomly around the page. I love how they fit perfectly with the pattern of the background paper. Look at my little princess! Isn't she so cute? That curly hair is just too much. I added some cardstock stickers from my stash - I have no idea what brand they are anymore!

I have always outlined my alpha stickers with a fine line black pen. I think it really makes the stickers pop off the page. I use a STABILO Fineliner these days. They are a great pen - a nice fine point and the point doesn't dull.

How to Create a Layered Background using Stamps

Look at my sweet princess! She was so cute and roly poly!  I love the look of layered backgrounds on my layouts. I don't like bulky pages that warp once I put them in my albums. Using stamps, inks, and stencils is a great way to create a detailed background. So much texture but no bulk!

My first step is to use a stencil, ink, and a dauber to add a layer of color randomly on the background. Here I am using ColorBox Crafter's Ink by Ann Butler Designs (Desert Sand). This is a nice opaque ink - I love it! Remember if you are using a multi surface ink on paper you need to dry it.

What do you do when you love the design of a stamp but not the shape? Make a mask!! I used a punch and a scrap of cardstock here and then stamped through the mask. This gave me a very random pattern which is exactly what I was looking for. This stamp is Ann Butler Stamp by Unity: Doily.

Here is a look at the result. Isn't that cool??

I used more Ann Butler ink to cover my chipboard (this time in Berry) and used a clear embossing powder over it. Heat set for a sparkling finish.

The last detail for the background is some tiny hearts scattered randomly around the photos. Because I wanted them to blend in I stamped them on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the layout.

Here's another look at the chipboard pieces. I love how the clear embossing powder gives them a sparkly finish.

This journal card is from my stash - I swear I have had it forever. It's from Creative Imaginations.

Here's another look at the finished background. It gives some visual weight to the layout, but it doesn't take over the layout. I want my photos to stand out - not the embellishments!

Sweet Princess 10 month old Layout

I am finally catching up with some scrapbook layouts and I love this one. My sweet princess was just so cute in this outfit - she was 10 months old. Yes - I did choose that outfit to match her amazing blue eyes!  I used a mix of new and old supplies to create this layout and I love how it came together.

I started project by adding some texture to the background paper using a DCWV stencil and Brea Reese paste.  I used 49 and Market papers for this layout- the colors are so pretty and matched my photos so well.  A Prima Crystal adorns the flower center of the fussy cut piece here.

I used Golden Heavy Body Gel Medium and colored it with Brea Reese Watercolor inks. After I marked out where my photos were going to go on the layout, I added the gel to the background and threw on a few Prima Art Stones in the small and medium size.  

I layered lots of papers to create my background. The flowers in the corner were fussy cut from another piece of the same line. The mat behind the photo, the strips to the right of the photo, and the punched strip are all from the 49 and Market line - Cottage Life.

My chipboard is Creative Embellishments and I used Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder to add the metallic coating. My punches are Martha Stewart  and the flower is from Petaloo. I removed the flowers centers and added a pearl instead - it was much less bulk than the original center. I am really working on keeping my a little more flat so I can fit more in an album. It's so hard!!!!

The bottom photo is raised using foam tape so there was room to put the chipboard and gel behind it. I inked my edges using VersaMagic Dew Drops. I fussy cut two tiny butterflies and added them to the corner of the upper photo.  I finished the layout off with some doodling around the edge and a half tag as a journal spot. Some Snug-Hug seam binding was the finishing touch.

Under The Sea Layout

Howdy everyone! How is your weekend shaping up?

Who can believe that January is over already?? 

Today I want to share all the details on my layout from yesterdays

Sparkle N Sprinkle new stamp Reveal!

Here we go,,,,, 

This is my Girl Scout troop in Cozumel many years ago!

We were on a cruise and we had a blast!

I did some stamping and embossing on my background papers for texture. 

I stamped the shells and stars from the Mermaid Kisses set, colored them with

Pearlescent watercolors and then fussy cut them. 

 My title was cut with my Cameo. The top layer was done my adhering 2 1/2" Tear-ific Tape 

to my cardstock, die cutting, removing the paper backing, then burnishing with glitter.

My sentiments is also from the same stamp set. For the bubbles I used a stencil, modeling paste,

and Crystal Ice GL.

My corner piece was also cut using the Cameo. I used Gold Memories Mist to accent the starfish.

Sweet 16 Birthday Party - Sparkle N Sprinkle new stamp set!

Howdy blogging buddies!

I am so happy to say that we have POWER again!

Wow- 36 hours without it, and we were ready for it to come back.

Of course, it came back on the exact second that I unboxed the

brand new, really expensive, non-returnable generator that I had just bought!

Today I want to share a project that I made using some fabulous

Sparkle N Sprinkle products including the new stamp set Geraniums

I have used MME papers - I am so totally in love with these two lines!

I also used Prima, Sizzix, EK Success, Tsukineko, Spellbinders, Stampin' Up,

and some random chipboard from my stash.

To coat my chipboard I used a new product from Sparkle N Sprinkle - Magic Speckle.

For the edge of my doily I used SNS Brushable Glue and Celestial Glitter

I cut the leaf branches from a Sticker Sheet and then burnished my glitter on.

For the chipboard flowers I painted them then added Cloud Nine Glitter while wet.

Here is a close up of the chipboard with Magic Speckle.

For mu journal spot, I cut with a Spellbinders Label die, then used a complimentary 

ink to stamp my background images. I stamped my sentiment in black next.
