Bunny Ear Baby Teethers using Fusi-Boo

Howdy everyone in blog land. Spring has sprung and I am super happy about that! Of course, in Texas that means bluebonnet photos and here is my Princess in her first set of photos

Seriously - how cute is that face! "Mimi- what do you mean I can't eat it?"

Of course, the Princess is putting everything in her mouth these days since she is teething, so I needed something for her to chew on.  I got out some beautiful fabric from ADORNit and my Fusi-Boo from Fairfield World and went to work. Here is what I came up with (thank you Pinterest!)

These were so easy and quick- if you can sew a straight stitch you can make these.

I love these fabrics! I have used Burnish Mustard, Burnish Aqua, Burnish Grey, Burnish Green, Burnish Pink, and Red Burnish. You can find them all here.

First thing is to cut your fabric and Fusi-Boo into strips about 4" wide X 14" long. You will need:
  • cotton print fabric for the front
  • a flannel or minky fabric for the back
  • Fusi-Boo for the middle
I made 10 of these in just over an hour. By working on each step 10 times, before going on to the next step, it really speeds up the process!

I drew a pattern on 8 1/2 X 14 paper and cut it out. Be sure to add your 1/4" seam allowance to the pattern. Place your fabrics right sides together, and add a layer of Fusi-Boo, then pin the pattern on and cut out.

Stitch around the fabric, leaving one side of the middle portion open. Snip the ends to cut down on bulk and turn inside out. Press the seams flat, making sure to turn the open section under 1/4".

Top stitch all the way around the fabric very close to the edge and press again. I used a Lark's Head Knot to tie them on my wooden rings (ordered from Amazon). She loves these things! The best part is, when they are soaked in drool you can take the fabric off, throw it in the washer, and put it back on the ring. Super handy.

Be sure to check out ADORNit for beautiful fabrics and Fairfield World for Fusi-Boo.

What have you been working on lately, please share a link with me in the comments! I would love to see.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have an amazing weekend!

Easter Treat Boxes Tutorial

Hi everyone, I am Guest Blogging over at Craft Paper Scissors today and I have a fun and easy project to share with you. I love to feed people and host parties- and I am so happy those things go hand in hand! I was fortunate to help out a friend with a small Easter themed tea party. I wanted the guests to be able to take lots of goodies home with them after the party. Of course, I had to create some instead of buying some, and here is what I came up with.

I wanted to keep with the soft colors I was using for my table, pinks, yellows and pale greens. Since I was using vintage dishes and linens I wanted to keep the lines fairly clean as well, which is pretty hard for me! My PP are from ADORNit -  I am loving these papers, I have been using them on everything!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my boxes and layers, then inked all my edges. If you do not have an electronic die cut machine, they are lots of patterns online for creating your own.

I adhered all the layers before assembling the boxes. I used Eileen Hull dies (from my Prime VIB Blogger Event Box) and Maya Road stamps for the label on the from, using foam tape to give it some dimension. Each box is a little different; I simply added a few embellishments from my stash keeping with the color theme. I used a small piece of strong, double sided tape on each flap to assemble them.

For the handles, I simply cut 12" x 3/4" strips of cardstock, applied double sided tape to all but the last inch on each end, then applied coordinating ribbon to each strip. The ribbon gives the cardstock more shape and makes it more durable.

To add the handles I used more double sided tape at the very ends, and added the handles to the inside of the boxes.

I finished each one off with a sparkly bow made from Offray Metallic ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to hop over to Craft Paper Scissors and check out what's going on over there.

Have a fabulous Holiday this weekend!

More Art Play with Deflecto Craft and ADORNit

I have had so much fun with the Art Play Paintables paper from ADORNit! I am loving them so much!!! Really, I really love to color anyway, so these are right up my alley.

Here is another project I made this week using one of the larger images from the set.
I used the 8 1/2 x 11Cubicle Sign Holder from Deflecto Crafts for my frame. I used a combination of Tombow markers and PITT® Pastel Pencils from Faber-Castell to color it in.

When I went to mount my finished project onto paper and insert it into the frame, I noticed something pretty cool,,,

The paper that came in the frame made a pretty good background for my project- it was so pretty! So I mounted my project right on the included paper and put it right back in the frame :o) - upcycling at it's best, right?

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a fabulous week!!

Feeling the Love with Deflecto Craft

Good morning everyone, who is ready for Valentine Day? I am adding the last few items to my decor and I wanted to share some of them with you this morning.

I have received some amazing items from Deflecto Craft over the last few months and I pulled a few of those items out to play with for this month.

For this project I started with the Deflecto Craft 12x12 Clear Frame and added a photo from the Caribbean Crawl last year.

I pulled out some vintage crepe paper and made a few flowers for the corner spray, giving them all a light spray with Gold Color Shine.

I used some beautiful fabric from ADORNit and a fabulous little item I got in my Prime Blogger Event box from Clover - it is the Kanzashi Flower Maker in Medium and it is a pretty handy little tool if I do say so!

I added a rub on in the corner- I swear I am going to use that drawer of rub-ons up!

I pulled two chipboard hearts from my stash and grabbed some SANDY LION- yes I am a paper hoarder- to cover them with. The jewel is from my stash, I can't remember who makes it, sorry!

Thanks for stopping by! What are you doing for Valentine Day this year, I would love to hear.

ADORNit Art Play Papers and Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be part of the ADORNit Blog Hop and I really enjoyed receiving a supply of their new Art Play papers! I am so in love with these papers y'all!

If you arrived here from the ADORNit blog, you are on the right track, if not you might want to hop back to the beginning and start again.
These papers are so amazing- they are nice and thick, so they hold up to lots of mediums well. You really need some, like now!

I made several projects with the fabulous supplies I received but I am thinking my favorite is this amazing little Art Journal. I wanted something small, that I could color in as the mood struck me, would be pretty mobile, and easy to play with. This little book fits the bill! I can work on it as the mood strikes me, and finish it as I go along. I hope you like it!

I used Eileen Hull's brand new Passport Book die from Sizzix for this super cute little book! It is 3.5 wide x 5 high and it is just the cutest thing!

I used papers from the Blender Basics for the entire album- I picked some colors that make me happy and worked from there.

I assembled the album a little different than the directions call for- you know I gotta be different!

I really wanted some texture for the cover- really a lot of texture- so I used the Flourishes Wood Shapes to cover the entire front.  I inked the shapes, then used white paint to highlight them.

I added some silver pearls and chipboard title to the front to finish it off. LOVE the look and the texture I ended up with!

I picked several of my favorite 3x4 images from the Art Play sheets and trimmed them out loosely following the outlines. Since I want to be able to take my time to color them in, I used some mini paper clips to hold them in place in the book until I am ready to glue them in place.

To finish off the spine I stamped a pattern with a coordinating ink, then one it was assembled I wrapped Maya Road twine around it several times, then tied a very big bow. I am all about the bows, ya know! I added some bling from my stash.

My clue for the hop is "R". Be sure to collect all the clues along the hop for your chance to win!

From here, please hop on over to Susan Brown's blog to see what she has created.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Have you visited my Facebook page yet? I would love it if you would stop by and give me a like :)
