Island Hopping - The Baths at Virgin Gorda

Hey y'all,,, yes I am still working on that huge Caribbean Crawl album. Today I am using some new dies provided to me by Makers Movement. Have you checked out all the fun stuff they have available? There are some awesome die and stamp sets on their site!

Look how cute these Nested Stitched Squares are! These are going to be great for photo mats. I almost always scrap with square photos on my layouts- I just like the way it looks. The largest of the set is 4.5 x 4.5 and that is what I used on my layout today to mat my photos.

I print almost all of my photos at 4x4 from Persnickety Prints. They have amazing quality and they are actually processed rather than ink printed. The mats are cut from French Vanilla Cardstock and inked with Sahara Sand VersaMagic.

Am I the only one who does this? I mark out where my photos are going before I do any background work.  These fun papers are from P13 - I was so lucky to meet the ladies from this fun company at Creativation and I fell in love with their papers and embellishments! The paper are so heavy and I love that.
For this layout I also used a stencil from TCW from years ago and the Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste.

I love that the Light & Fluffy Modeling past dries SO fast! No waiting around for half an hour to move on to the next step! I colored the dried paste with Mustard Seed Distress Ink by lightly rubbing the ink pad over it.  These cute little tickets popping up from inside the folder have been hanging around in my studio forever.  I tore strips from another sheet from the Awakening collection, inked the edges, and adhered them in layers.

I used the Mini File Folder Set to cut this cute embellishment - the folder and the tag strips on top that I journaled on.  I cut the folder from P13 Sunshine Collection of papers and the journal strips using French Vanilla from Bazzill.

I used the small arrow die from the Mini File Folder set and plain white cardstock to make some extra accents for the page. The printed flag is from P13 - the Awakening collection.

Caribbean Crawl Layout from El Morro

So I am slowly but surely getting my photos from this epic trip documented. We refer to this trip as the "Caribbean Crawl". We started in San Juan and went all the way to Barbados- hitting 16 islands on the way. It was amazing y'all! Anyway- there were so many photos and so much to document that I pushed it aside for a bit.  This was out second day into the trip- we were in San Juan and spent the day exploring El Morro- which is a beautiful fort that looks like a castle. I saw this fabulous dies by  Paper Roses at Creativation back in January. I LOVED THEM! They had such an amazing collection of dies and some stamps too.  This set is two different dies (sold individually) and I picked mine up at Scrapbook.com.  The top layer is Quatrefoil Background Layer 1 and the bottom layer is Quatrefoil Background Layer 2.  Now y'all know I am not much of a card maker- but I really wanted to use these dies so I worked them into my scrapbook page.  I used the new Cobalt/Gold Glossy Foiled Paper from Rinea for the bottom layer and Arctic/Gold Glossy Foiled paper or the top layer.

Look how great they look when they are layered together! I love this die y'all! The Cobalt color was perfect for this layout where I wanted to show off the view of the sea.

I adhered it to the background then added my photos and embellishments on top. The sticker here is from forever ago- I am not even sure what company it is from.

Do you use maps and other materials from your travel on your pages? I used the front panel of a handout from the National Parks Service for the title on my page.  I always try to include these kinds of things on my pages.

The Traveler layout with Webster's Pages

Today I have a new layout for the Crafty Scrapper. I am so in love with these new Webster's Pages papers. Love the colors, love the textures, love everything about them! We have two new lines in the store- Nest and Strawberry Fields.

I am still working on scrapping the few thousand photos I took last year on The Caribbean Crawl 2015- we were in St Kitts on this day and we were having a great time.

For this layout I used the Strawberry Fields line. I started my background by using a lot of old chipboard alphas and applying them randomly to the page. I applied a coat of gesso to the whole thing and let it dry, then painted with two tones of cream and gold iridescent paint.

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the patterned pages and highlighted them with my new Zig Clean Color Brush Markers- these things are pretty cool!  I also added some die cut stickers from the Nest line. The hearts are die cut from American Crafts corrugated cardstock and highlighted with my white Signo pen.

Who is not in love with the new Petaloo flowers that have come out in the last few months?? These are AWESOME. I really like how they have lots of petals on them, but they are FLAT enough to go into my scrapbook albums. 

More fussy cutting here and again I used the new Zig Clean Color Markers to give the piece some extra highlights and sparkle. Because we can never have enough sparkle!

Feeling the Love with Deflecto Craft

Good morning everyone, who is ready for Valentine Day? I am adding the last few items to my decor and I wanted to share some of them with you this morning.

I have received some amazing items from Deflecto Craft over the last few months and I pulled a few of those items out to play with for this month.

For this project I started with the Deflecto Craft 12x12 Clear Frame and added a photo from the Caribbean Crawl last year.

I pulled out some vintage crepe paper and made a few flowers for the corner spray, giving them all a light spray with Gold Color Shine.

I used some beautiful fabric from ADORNit and a fabulous little item I got in my Prime Blogger Event box from Clover - it is the Kanzashi Flower Maker in Medium and it is a pretty handy little tool if I do say so!

I added a rub on in the corner- I swear I am going to use that drawer of rub-ons up!

I pulled two chipboard hearts from my stash and grabbed some SANDY LION- yes I am a paper hoarder- to cover them with. The jewel is from my stash, I can't remember who makes it, sorry!

Deconstructed Layout #11 Green Island, Antigua

For The Deconstructed Layout #11 - Green Island, Antigua - I want to talk about using one large centerpiece photo on your layout. This was one of my favorite shots from a recent vacation and I really wanted it to shine.

It has been a while since I cut a photo up into strips, and I have been itching to do it. I have soooo many photos from my recent trip from the Caribbean- beautiful photos that I really want to showcase on my layouts.

Being an engineer by trade, measuring and having everything straight is right up there on my list!

I used a piece of washi tape across the top of the paper - it is hard to see in the photo because it is very light. I placed it two inches down from the top of the page and used my ruler to make sure it was level. 

Next up I marked the center of the page and then marked 1" on either side of the center- remember the strips are 2" wide. I wanted 1/8" between the photo strips, so working from the center of the paper towards the edges, I measured 2" then 1/8". Repeat on the other side, again working from the center towards the edge.

Here is what my page looks like after I have everything measured. Adhere the photo strips using the pencil lines as a guide. 

I started with an 8x10 photo and I cut it into five 2" wide strips. I added a frame in PSE before printing to give it a little something more.  Adhere the photo strips using the pencil lines as your guide. Once you have everything in place, trim the cardstock with a 1/8" margin on all sides then erase any visible pencil lines.

Mat it on a dark blue cardstock, again with a 1/8" margin then adhere to the background paper. I used the Everyday Moments stamp set from Elle's studio to add detail to the upper corner of the photo. I stamped it with white StazOn, then traced over the words with a Signo White Pen..

I finished the layout off with two smaller photos at the bottom, a few embellishments, and some journaling.

Oceans of Fun- New Echo Park Papers

Howdy blogging friends!

How is the weather where you are?? Isn't it super freaky this year?

I have a friend in Colorado that got snow yesterday! It has been raining

 here for days and the temp is down to the low 60s today. Not that I am complaining!

Today I have a new layout for The Crafty Scrapper to share

using some really cute new Echo Park Papers!!

 How cute is this new paper!!! It is Summer Adventures from Echo 

Park- be sure to get yours before it is all gone! If you are not near the store, remember- they ship!

I used a stencil and Molding Past to add some texture to my background. The flowers are Vintage Prima

and the chipboards are BLue Fern Studios, and they have been embossed using Sparkle N Sprinkle EPs.

  I used my Cameo to make my layered title using Bazzill cardstocks. 

So you have a Cameo and want to learn more ways to use it? I will be teaching a series of classes

on how to use your Cameo starting in June/July.

The journal card is also from the same paper line, and I used torn 

strips from the line to make a layered mat for my photo and 

inked them with Powder Puff ink from Quick Quotes.

The word art here is trimmed from one of the Journal Cards, and I added a little bit of bling down each edge to make it pop. In the upper corner I used a square chippie from MME to accent- I cut it in half so it would fit where I wanted it. These are also available at the store.
